Overview

This is one of our favourite locations in Swaledale as it boasts stunning views, is a great base of activities and gives a real raw perspective on the Yorkshire Dales. This weekend has been designed with a combination of relaxing yoga classes alongside hiking and wild swimming. The wild swimming is guided by Les (aka the Dales Dipper) and he is there to offer support and the techniques required for dealing with cold water submersion. Matt, our hiking guide will put together a 3 hour trail to explore this stunning location on foot before you return back to Hazel Brow to meet the resident alpacas for a stroll and feed. We hire in a hot tub for this weekend to ease the muscles after your outdoor adventures.

Accommodation

Hazel Brow House is situated in the hamlet of Low Row, 2 miles from Reeth and 10 miles from the Georgian market town of Richmond. Hazel Brow is perfect for an Emmas Dale wellness & adventure retreat boasting panoramic views of Swaledale along with the chocolate box charm of this area. There are plenty of communal areas in the house including a cosy lounge with an open fire, a rear snug room, perfect for chilling out in and a large dining area. It is made up of King and Twin bedrooms, some of which are ensuite, there are 5 twin share rooms and 2 single occupancy rooms. The hamlet itself is peaceful, natural and has a country pub for anyone fancying a taste of the local ales. There is also a fantastic terrace area to sit and have time out, enjoying the lovely views across Swaledale..

Activities

YOGA whether you practise yoga regularly or will be a beginner, our Yoga instructors tailor the classes to suit all levels and plan them around the activities you will be doing so they compliment each other. Mats can be provided or if you have your own, please bring one along.

WILD SWIMMING is a very popular activity and very important it is done in a safe environment. This guided session is led by Les Peebles a.k.a The Dales Dipper, he knows all the best spots in the Dales and will be on hand to guide you through the safety aspects and give you the techniques to deal with cold water. We recommend to do the dips/swim in a swimsuit to get the full benefit. If you have a health condition, please contact your GP in advance.

HIKING a guided hike with a local expert who will lead you on a safe route. You can expect a relaxed pace suitable for the group as a whole. There will be a mix of terrains with no technical (such as scrambling) aspects but there will be a mix of ascents & descents along with soft & hard terrain.

ALPACAS a very slow paced activity where you can experience walking with & feeding the Alpacas. Owner Cath will give you some interesting info on the animals and you will take it in turns to lead them.

Who is this trip suitable for?

This is the perfect weekend for those who want to relax but also enjoy some great outdoor activities. The Yoga is tailored to suit beginners and those with previous experience. The hiking and wild swimming is also suitable for beginners and those with some experience and will be set at a relaxed pace. We welcome solo travellers and those traveling with friends.
