Overview
A weekend staying in the popular Yorkshire Dales village of Malham. If you are wanting to take your wild swimming to the next level, this retreat will give you the opportunity to do so with two dip locations. This is a guided activity with wild swim coach Les (aka the Dales Dipper), he will be there to support you and give you the techniques needed for dealing with cold water submersion. You will also enjoy a 2 hour foraging & tasting workshop with James Hill (The Forager Within) and learn about plants that are edible at this time of year along with some great recipe ideas. Matt, our fabulous hiking guide will also take you out on foot to explore the coves of Malham on a 3 hour trail. The accommodation is a cosy bunkbarn with all the amenities required for a comfortable weekend of adventures.
Accommodation
You will spend two nights staying at the gorgeous Hilltop Farm Bunkhouse. This is a traditional hill farm located in the Yorkshire Dales countryside and a 2 minute walk to Malham village centre where there is a shop and two pubs. The bunk barn is made up of cosy dorm rooms, an open plan kitchen, dining & lounge area, drying rooms for your kit and outdoor areas for us to rest and relax if the weather allows. We have limited the capacity to 12 people so there is plenty of space, with people sleeping across 5 bedrooms.
There is parking for up to 8 cars (with more available in the village), WiFi and two large toilet and shower rooms. Hilltop Barn is the perfect space for relaxing, socialising and exploring this part of the Dales. To get here, it is approximately 30 minutes from the market town of Skipton, approx 50 minutes from the M6 and 1.5hrs from the A1.
Who is this trip suitable for?
If you have some experience of wild swimming or are wanting to take a strong step in to this activity with a guide, then this weekend is perfect. All the activities are aimed at a beginner level and a reasonable level of fitness is recommended to get the most out of each one. This retreat welcomes solo travellers and those travelling with a friend.
